Making Music with Makey Makeys
10 AM-3 PM | Madison Children’s Museum, 100 N Hamilton St, Madison, WI 53703
17.2m (aka Scott Fradkin) will use Makey Makeys as a midi controller to play with synths and a drum machine. Come learn about electronic music and experience the power and fun of the Makey Makey. 17.2m will both perform original works and offer drop in interactive sessions.
Harmonica Lesson with Harmonica Man Dewayne Keyes

Harmonica Man, DeWayne Keyes, returns to lead his popular group lesson and performance. Hohner musical instrument company provides free harmonicas to the first 100 participants.
Hambone Workshop with Nedra Bobo-Boyles

Get moving and turn your body into an instrument. The Hambone is an African drum technique that uses the entire body as a drum set to produce different sounds. It also has a crucial place in American history, deriving its name from the resourcefulness and creativity of communities of enslaved African people.
Chorale Sing with Just Bach Concerts

Just Bach Concerts is a Madison based musical organization that presents programs of baroque repertoire featuring Johann Sebastian Bach and his contemporaries. Founded in 2018 as the “Just Bach” concert series at Luther Memorial Church in Madison, we have since expanded our mission, offering free, accessible music programming throughout Madison, Milwaukee, and elsewhere in Wisconsin. Our concerts feature local and regional professional musicians and we end every program with a community chorale sing of one of Bach’s many wonderful chorale settings.

Join Tania Tandias Flamenco & Spanish Dance and guitarist Peter Baime for an exciting performance of flamenco dance and music. Tania Tandias Flamenco & Spanish Dance specializes in dance forms from Spain. Besides performing at numerous schools, festivals and theaters throughout Wisconsin, the company has recently performed with the Madison Opera and Kanopy Dance Company. Peter Baime, Flamenco guitarist, has actively performed for 5 decades and has taught at the Wisconsin Conservatory, UWM, and Cardinal Stritch University. He has an Emmy Award for composition and is featured in a new documentary titled Flamenco: Pasión en Peligro. Peter Baime and Tania Tandias have performed together for the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra’s performance of Vivo Flamenco, in addition to numerous concerts at universities, festivals, and private functions. peterbaimeguitarist.com
Flash Mob Playing of Maurice Ravel’s Boléro by Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestra

The Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestras (WYSO) Youth Orchestra and friends, led by Maestro Kyle Knox, will play Boléro by Maurice Ravel. An iconic piece of classical music, Maestro Knox calls this composition “the closest that we have in the ‘Classical’ tradition to pop music.” More than 5,000 young musicians from communities throughout Southern Wisconsin have participated in WYSO during its 50+ years of existence. Under the artistic direction of Kyle Knox, WYSO includes three full orchestras, two string orchestras, a chamber music program, a harp program, a percussion ensemble, a flute choir program, a brass choir program, the WYSO Music Makers – a program that provides quality instruments, music, and instruction to students from historically underserved backgrounds regardless of prior experience – and now the WYSO Center for Music, a facility that serves as a home base for WYSO and a space for the broader community.

Please join the Madison Sufis in The Dances of Universal Peace – a spiritual practice in motion. Drawing on sacred phrases, songs and poetry from many wisdom traditions of the earth, the Dances blend chants, live music and simple movements into a living experience of unity and peace. We dance to create peace within ourselves, our communities and the world. No experience is necessary; just an open heart, willing spirit and respect for the sacred space we create.
