Make Music Madison

Kaia Kalise

"Lose the filter, love off-kilter, only sunsets dripping off your fangs." With earnest, poetic lyricism and sparkle, singer-songwriter-pianist Kaia Kalise speaks intimately, intriguingly, to the heartache and dark irony of human experience. A prolific songwriter and former member of Madison indie rock band Penny Seller, Kaia has produced a robust library of original and cover songs with new tracks always on deck. In 2023, Kaia released self-produced album Strange Situation Procedure, following her 2018 L.P. debut, Half Lives. She has performed in venues across Wisconsin, including opening for folk songwriter Carsie Blanton in 2019. Kaia has scored two short films and numerous plays, also serving as sound designer for local theatrical productions. She earned several awards and nominations from the Madison Area Music Association and was selected to participate in the 105.5 Triple M Top 8 Competition twice. Kaia is a Speech Language Pathology student and advocate of LGBTQ rights.
