Aaron Yarmel & Jeff Stanek (AKA Liminal Aberration)

On a warm spring day in 2016, two Madison vegans crossed paths in the Hawthorne Library parking lot, united by a protest against the research puppy mill Ridglan Farms — and a shared passion for music. Liminal Aberration is the duo project of Jeff Stanek on piano and Aaron Yarmel on violin. Jeff has appeared as pianist, composer, or both on renowned series including Token Creek Chamber Music Festival, Present Music, and Tanglewood, and has been called on to perform in dozens of premieres of new works. He holds degrees in piano performance and pedagogy from UW-Madison and in composition and piano from Indiana University. Aaron is a classical violinist who has performed with professional orchestras across the US and appeared at summer festivals including the Lucerne Festival Academy and the Music Academy of the West. He holds a Bachelor of Music from the Eastman School of Music, an MSc from the London School of Economics, and a PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
