Rick has played trumpet since age 6, starting with playing New Orleans jazz and Herb Alpert songs by ear. Rick was number one trumpet at Madison West and UW Madison back in the day - and since then has played with over 10,000 bands worldwide - mostly sitting in. He plays anything by ear (even songs he does not know) and doesn't need to know the key. He plays songs at the Hilldale farmers market on select days during the summer, as well as wine bars, shops and other venues - tailored to whatever they want to play. He also does weddings with a DJ to give a live band feel for less than the cost of a band. His mellow Chris Botti type tone, improvisation, and ability to play by ear are his fortes. Rick also composes movie soundtrack type music and started the techno movement back in the 1980s and was noted in Electronic Musician Magazine as part of the history of Electronic Music. For this performance Rick will be playing popular US and Latin songs. But happy to take requests!
